Santa received a notice of violation( 1926.102) for lack of PPE – Eye and Face Protection. This is #10 on OSHA’s TopTen violations for 2019. (#9 in 2023, not good)
The Industrial Revolution provided us with many great inventions of machinery. Machinery is great because it helps to do the jobs of drilling, sanding, polishing, cutting, shaping, and bending a lot easier and more efficiently. However, as most machines do, they are also loud, and noisy when used and have faster moving parts which creates a new set of problems.
As you can see above, the elf is busy drilling holes into the wooden hobby horse and is not wearing any PPE, (Personal Protective Equipment). Not only is the drill loud, but debris and sawdust are produced during the process.
So now, let’s help Santa. In this environment, how many types of PPE should the elves be wearing? I can think of three. What do you think they are?
Can you think of any other PPE? Will this be enough to fix this ticket let alone save Santa’s workshop? Find out the answers tomorrow.
